Pazzo’s Pizza Pub in Lexington is closed until further notice

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A popular bar-restaurant just off the University of Kentucky campus is closed until further notice.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reported there was a sign on the door at Pazzo’s Pizza Pub on South Limestone that says the business “is closed until further notice.  We are sorry for any inconvenience.”

When we visited Pazzo’s Thursday, there was no sign on the door but the doors were locked during normal business hours.

There’s no mention of the closure on the restaurant’s website, but its Facebook page has been deleted.  It’s unclear when or if the business will reopen.

Pazzo’s does not have an active liquor license, according to the Kentucky Alcoholic Beverage Control database.

The business opened in March 2000, with a selection of craft and imported beers, hand-crafted pizza and calzones.

According to Fayette County records, in May 2018, the business was sold by Tom Behr to Seth Bennett, who also owns Two Keys Tavern and Stagger Inn.

Pazzo’s was placed on probation by the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department in December 2018 after an inspector found, among other things, expired food in coolers, including meatballs, peppers, onions and broccoli. The department says it did not shut the restaurant down.
