UPDATE: Madison County Schools grieve death of a student


UPDATE: MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Madison County Schools says grief counselors will be on hand to help students and staff cope with the death of a student.

13 year old, Justin Tillery died at the hospital on Sunday according to Madison County schools.

Officials say Justin was a 7th grader at Farristown Middle School.

Madison County Schools released this comment: “Farristown Middle School and Madison County Schools are deeply saddened by the death of 7th grader Justin Tillery, who passed away Sunday from injuries sustained in a car accident last week. Justin’s death has greatly impacted the school community as well as the Madison County community. As a school and a district, we offer our sincerest condolences to his family and friends. ”


MCKEE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police say a teenager was one of two people killed in a crash Friday night in Jackson County.

The crash happened just after 7 p.m. on KY Highway 290 in McKee. Troopers say a flatbed truck with a trailer, driven by 19-year-old Mackenzie Isaacs, crossed the center line and collided with a 2001 Nissan Frontier, driven by 35-year-old Dustin Tillery, of McKee.

According to the Jackson State County Coroner, Tillery was pronounced dead at the scene.

State police say two passengers in Tillery’s truck were airlifted from the scene to the University Kentucky Hospital with serious injuries. One of them, 13-year-old Justin Tillery, later died.

No charges have been filed in the case but Kentucky State Police say the investigation is ongoing.
