UPDATE: (8/19/19M 10:40 a.m.) – Hundreds of coffee enthusiasts woke up early Saturday morning for a little pick-me-up.
“We had people coming at 8-8:15 ready to drink some cold brew,” said Lacey Ngyuen, creator and roaster of Cherry Seed Coffee Roastery.
15 vendors set-up around Cheapside Park, ready to serve up their best cold brew.
It brought a boost to the normal weekly crowds at the Lexington Farmers Market.
“Yes absolutely, this brings out more people,” said Josh England, Market Manager with Lexington Farmers Market.
The event allows coffee roasters and coffee shops from Lexington and surrounding areas a chance to showcase their caffeinated products.
It brought in beginners to the more experienced sippers like David Huff.
“I fall more in the expertise (category) so I can taste the subtle differences and stuff in them,” said Huff.
Each shot, iced on a hot summer day providing caffeine, education and a boost in business.
“I’m loving the traffic,” said Nguyen.
England added, “Any way to get an extra pep in your step, especially when that can be caffeine and support local businesses, that’s a win win win for everyone.”
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington is celebrating its 2nd annual Cold Brew Coffee Festival. It’s a partnership between local coffee roasters and the Lexington Farmers Market.
Lacey Nguyen, creator and roaster of Cherry Seed Coffee Roastery, says it’s a way to get to know fellow coffee enthusiasts and spread awareness about the cold brew method.
“It’s a great way for coffee roasters in Lexington and surrounding areas and this year we opened up to coffee shops and non-roasters,” said Nguyen.
Josh England, Market Manager with Lexington Farmers Market says they’re 50% bigger than last year.
“We’re always excited to bring in new people and new businesses from around Central Kentucky,” said England.
England says the farmers market downtown has been around for more than 40 years and is open every Saturday, year-round.
Coffee lovers can head out to Cheapside Park Saturday, Aug. 17 from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. to sample blends from local roasters.
