CARY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Bell County man is accused of shooting at a neighbor, setting his own house on fire and firing at officers.
Kentucky State Police say troopers were called to help the Bell County Sheriff’s Office with a shots fired complaint near Billy Goat Road in the Cary community around 12:13 a.m. Monday.
Troopers say, when they arrived, they discovered 53-year-old Charles Lawson had fired shots at a neighbor’s home then tried to start a fire at his own home.
They say Lawson also started shooting at troopers and deputies at the scene.
That led to a standoff that lasted several hours.
Lawson was taken into custody just before 7 a.m. and charged with attempted murder of a police officer, wanton endangerment, and assault.
