It’s usually held on March 2nd on the birthday of the author we know as Doctor Seuss. But this year his birthday falls on a Saturday and schools will not be open so the event is being celebrated a day earlier.

Residents in Fayette County can celebrate Saturday by bringing the kids out to Fayette Mall. The Fayette County Education Association says there will be celebrity readers and special appearances by the Cat in the Hat, along with Thing One and Thing Two.

The event will take place in front of Dillards from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Kids will receive goodie bags, reading lists and tips for parents.
