
PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Funeral arrangements are set for a former state senator, lawyer and Pike County civic leader who passed away Wednesday.
John Doug Hays died at his home surrounded by family at the age of 74.
The Pikeville native graduated from Pikeville College, the University of Kentucky College of Law, and Liberty Theological Seminary.
He practiced law in Pikeville for 46-years. He was also a State Senator, Assistant Pike County Attorney, a Pike County Judge Pro-Tem, Special Commissioner of Pike Circuit Court, Special Justice to the Kentucky Supreme Court, Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney, Pike County Judge-Executive Assistant, Pike County Deputy Judge-Executive, President of the Pike County Public Defender’s Association and a Veteran of the United States Air Force.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 10, at 6:00 p.m. at J.W. Call and Son Funeral Home. Services will immediately follow at 7:00 p.m.
Burial services will be private.
