ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (AP) – Services are set this week for a retired Army colonel who was killed in an explosion while serving as a contractor in Afghanistan.
The News-Enterprise (http://bit.ly/2g7p0VP ) reports that the funeral for 57-year-old Col. Jarrold M. Reeves Jr. will be Wednesday at Fort Knox, where he served from 2007 to 2011.
According to his obituary, Reeves was killed Nov. 12 in an explosion at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan. Another contractor and two U.S. soldiers also died. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, which it said was carried out by a suicide bomber inside the base.
After retiring from the Army in 2011, Reeves joined Fluor Corp. and went to Afghanistan to provide logistics services for the military.
