LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Trinity Gay’s family has announced funeral plans for the rising track star shot and killed over the weekend.
Lexington police say Gay, 15, was caught in the crossfire of a shootout early Sunday morning near COOK OUT Restaurant. She later died at the hospital.
Three people have been arrested in connection with the shooting.
Gay is the daughter of Olympic sprinter and Lexington native Tyson Gay. Coaches say she had a bright future on the track.
“She had stuff that you can’t coach,” said Larmont Lawson, one of Gay’s AAU coaches. “She just woke up with it.”
Gay’s funeral will be held at Southland Christian Church in Nicholasville on Saturday, October 22nd at noon.
The wake will be from nine to noon before the funeral.
