LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A woman riding a motorcycle was critically injured late Friday afternoon after Lexington Police say she ran into the back of a boat that was being towed on a trailer by a pickup truck. The collision happened in the southbound lane of I-75 near mile marker 116 shortly after 4:00 p.m., according to investigators. The woman’s name wasn’t released. She was rushed to UK Hospital. Police say the woman was riding with a group of motorcyclist’s. The driver of the truck wasn’t hurt, according to police.
The boat was partially dislodged from the trailer in the collision, according to police. Southbound lanes were initially shutdown while the scene was cleared and the Lexington Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) began its investigation. The closure led to a miles long backup on southbound I-75. The road was reopened by evening.
