WINCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ)- A Winchester family is mourning the loss of an 11-year-old girl who reportedly died of a heart attack.
The Winchester Sun quotes Clark County coroner Robert Gayheart as saying Whitney Jackson died Wednesday night of severe coronary artery disease, which appears to be genetic. He told the paper she had three blocked vessels. Gayheart says other tests are needed to confirm the cause of death.
Jackson was a fifth grader at Baker Intermediate School. Her family created a gofundme page to help cover funeral expenses. Her mom Jessica Jackson wrote about Whitney’s sudden death and says her daughter had come home from school, and after eating, said she was dizzy and passed out. Jackson says Whitney regained consciousness and was being taken to the hospital when she suddenly crashed and had no heartbeat. Jackson says doctors worked 75 minutes to save Whitney’s life before she was ultimately pronounced dead.
Visitation is Sunday from 6-8pm at Scobee Funeral Home. The funeral will also be held at Scobee on Monday at 1:00pm. Burial will follow in the Bluegrass Memorial Gardens in Lexington.
