LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Diagnosed with cerebral palsy shortly after birth, Austin Lynn has been in a wheelchair his whole life. Then as a teenager, he was diagnosed with state four colon cancer.
“I just knew I wasn’t going to let it change my life,” said Lynn.
He hasn’t let anything slow him down, until now. He now needs the community’s help.
The wheelchair ramp leading to his front door is in desperate need of repair. Some of the boards are loose and Lynn says it could cave in at any moment.
He can’t use his electric wheelchair because it is too heavy for the wooden ramp.
Lynn says it also doesn’t make code, it is too steep.
Now strangers from all across the country have reached out through social media to help support Lynn.
All the supplies have been donated for the new ramp from Home Depot and Lowe’s.
Volunteers plan to rebuild the ramp on Saturday, September 5th. They say they will need help.
Lynn’s wheelchair accessible SUV also needs a new engine. There is a gofundme page set up to help raise the $7000 needed for the new engine. All the labor to install it will be donated.
